Board Meeting October 26, 2016
Ervin called the meeting to order at 5:06 PM with the librarian and all trustees present.
Reilly motioned that the tentative Budget 16-02 be approved. Ervin seconds and the motion carried with no opposing votes.
Reilly motioned that the tentative Budget 16-03 be approved. Borowczyk seconds and the motion carried with no opposing votes.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read.
Financial reports were read and discussed. Borowczyk moved that the reports be approved. Judge seconds it and the motion carried with no opposing votes.
Circulation and materials acquired were discussed.
Monthly bills were discussed. Borowczyk moved that the bills be approved for payment. Shanle seconds it and the motion carried with no opposing votes.
September was National Library Card Sign-Up month and we waived fines on 21 cards totaling $138. On October 6, we opened the library five hours early to spend six hours giving tours to Sangamon Valley West students. We made 46 new cards and are enjoying the extra foot traffic in the library as the outcome of it.
The staff participated in the homecoming parade October 7.
On October 20, we hosted a program along with the Sangamon Valley Historical Society on the Illiopolis Ordnance Plant. This was held at the Illiopolis Township Hall and about 63 people attended.
On October 22, Shelley worked a coloring booth at the Illiopolis Community Halloween party located at the school.
Discussion was held on the air-conditioning unit and will be tabled until Spring.
Discussion was held on material limits due to theft. Hopkins will have Heartland Library make the needed changes.
Judge will be leaving the board in January and the staff will try to find a someone to appoint.
The next meeting will be December 14, 2016. The December meeting will be held earlier due to the passing of the budget and levy before the necessary deadline and to avoid Christmas festivities.
