December 2016 board meeting minutes

Ervin called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with the librarian and all trustees present except Reilly and Shanle. Shanle arrived at 5:06 p.m.
At 5:15 p.m. there were no objections to the budget and levy ordinances. Borowczyk moved that Budget Ordinance 16-02 and Levy Ordinance 16-03 be approved. The motion carried with no opposing votes.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. Borowczyk moved that the reports be approved. Hinds seconds it and the motion carried with no opposing votes.
Financial reports were read and discussed. Borowczyk moved that the reports be approved. Judge seconds it and the motion carried with no opposing votes.
Circulation and materials acquired were discussed.
Monthly bills were discussed. Borowczyk moved that the bills be approved for payment. Judge seconds it and the motion carried with no opposing votes.
Discussion on the front door was tabled since Reilly wasn't here to talk about it.
Goals for the library staff was presented. Four of the five employees met their goals.
Howard, Hinds, Reilly and Ervin turned in their petition to run in the April election. Judge's last meeting will be in January and we will need to appoint someone as her replacement.
Hopkins spoke of her recommendations for raises and Christmas bonus for her co-workers. She also discussed her 24 years of service with no major benefits and asked the board to help contribute to her attaining a health insurance policy. The board went into executive session at 5:21 p.m. to discuss raises, benefits and Christmas bonuses. The board came out of executive session at 5:36 p.m.
Christmas bonuses for library clerks was raised to $50 and $200 for the library director. A fifty cent raise was given to four of the five clerks. Hopkins was awaiting premium costs for insurance so the board tabled her raise/insurance request until the January meeting.
